WORKSHOP OVERVIEW
Champion Math helps 5th graders master fraction concepts through the lens of sports statistics and Black athletic excellence. In this 90-minute interactive online workshop, students tackle the fraction skills that form the foundation of 5th grade math—multiplying fractions, dividing fractions, and working with mixed numbers—all while exploring the achievements of athletes like LeBron James, Angel Reese, Serena Williams, and Saquon Barkley.
Rather than abstract numbers on a page, fractions become tools for understanding real performance data: shooting percentages, rushing yards, race times, and more. This approach helps students see why fractions matter and builds both mathematical understanding and cultural awareness.
